Ottawa Lawyer: Ottawa drivers not Stopping for Buses!

Our personal injury lawyers are concerned to report that as part of Ottawa’s Integrated Road Safety Program, the Ottawa police laid 2927 tickets in September to drivers who failed to adhere to posted speed limits.  An additional 40 drivers did not stop for school buses with flashing red lights activated.

Passing a stopped school bus with its upper red lights flashing carries serious penalties.  The fines can range from $400 to $2000 and there can be 6 demerit points on a first offence.  As second offence can result in a fine from $1000 to $4000, six demierit points and a possible jail sentence.

Of course the potential human costs to this type of human error is much higher.  Ottawa drivers, please watch for school buses.
