Meet Ottawa Lawyer Dawn Baglole:

Birthplace: Cape Breton Island

Law School: University of New Brunswick

Hobbies/Interests: Music, travel, reading, cooking from her extensive collection of cookbooks, and cycling at a four year old’s speed and distance.

Pullquote: “It may sound cliché, but it actually feels like I’m doing some good for the people I work for. It’s very satisfying to play a part in helping them to navigate what can be a life changing event”.

When it comes to law, Auger Hollingsworth lawyer Dawn Baglole has practically done it all: corporate, criminal, labour, employment, real estate – you name it. But it was when she began practising personal injury law that she knew she’d found her calling.

“It’s the personal side of it,” she says, mentioning one case involving a senior where she was able to negotiate a very good and quick settlement. Accidents at that stage of life can be particularly disruptive so, for the client, getting a timely settlement was a big deal.

After completing an undergraduate degree in psychology at the University of Cape Breton and the University of New Brunswick in 2003, Dawn worked for a couple of years before returning to school to complete her law degree in 2008. After articling and working in Nova Scotia for several years, she adopted Ottawa as her new home and joined Auger Hollingsworth in spring 2013.

Several years later, Dawn says she, her husband and two young children try to get back to Nova Scotia to visit family every chance they get. They also enjoy international travel, having visited countries from China to Ireland to Portugal. Closer to home, they enjoy culinary adventures throughout Ottawa.

When she’s not working, travelling, or spending time with the family, Dawn says she’s a book club member, voracious reader, and a big fan of attending live music events.
